~Noktowl heads over for a visit to the Grande Jatte: [link]
My half of an art trade with . If you haven't seen his work, you owe it to yourself to check him out. His gallery includes re-imaginings of famous works, and his versatility is nothing short of stunning. And he's a nice guy, to boot.
How the hell did I not see this one before? This is lovely, and I like the way his foot fades into the picture itself. Did you do a rendition of the painting yourself before pixellating it?
Thanks! This picture was so relaxing to work on. And there's no pixel effect going on, what you see is all done by hand. I used a brush set on dissolve at very low flow and opacity to "paint" the background. I wanted to use pixels as the dots. I just went one color at a time, trying to build shades though raw layering. But oddly enough, the bg is only two or three photoshop layers. Very different from my normal technique of doing millions of them.
