Deceitfully simple indeed! I tried my hand at animating a short clip the other day, and then SimonBeed on twitter said he was doing some animation instruction: twitter.com/SimonBeed/status/...

I don't know if I'll really go anywhere with this, but I figured it would be fun to learn some basics. I tossed a random panel from my comic Sire in the back, so I'd have a light source. Whooo Spooky floating pendulum!
